"Here at the Meadowbrook Park Clubhouse, so beautiful in its mid-century style, peers out at the joyful children reveling in a wonderland of delightful challenges at this artful tree-lined playground. The setting sun casting a warm glow symbolizing the warmth of family, friends and fellowship in the city of Prairie Village, KS." Julie
Backstory: I was excited to be invited to choose a work of art for an invitational art exhibition at the new Meadowbrook Community Center. So in my excitement I chose to create a piece specifically featuring their amazing park. I visited there with my grandchildren on SO many occasions, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to CREATE an artwork reflecting its charm and beauty!
My Inspiration: a 37 year resident of Prairie Village and a former 11 year member of their Arts Council, I LOVE my city! As a grandmother now, I am thrilled about this new and fabulous Meadowbrook Park! It's brought me hours of joy watching the children revel in the challenges of the amazing structures. In this image I tried to draw on my love of classic impressionistic art and then fused it with the warm colors of a friendly park. I hope it warms your heart as it has mine.
My process:
1. The Capture: I'm constantly compelled to seek out meaning in the unexpected or in the seemingly unexciting, then revel in utilizing optimal lighting and open-minded perspectives when placing these visual treasures into my camera's viewfinder.
2. The Alteration: Then in my portable "art studio," I redefine, manipulate and create, using my “‘digital’ paint brushes," “‘filtered’ glazes," “‘working RGB’ palettes," “‘selected’ scissors,” and “‘layered’ polymers." These traditional art tools now made digital, allow me to use my artistic talent for creating works of art that transcend the photos.
This piece has a very limited addition of only 30 prints in total.
